Running towards the mystery - Tenzin Priyadarshi
It's not about running away from the crisis and suffering. It's running towards mystery.
There are two kinds of ignorance. The one that knows is ignorant and is curious and corrects itself and learns. The other type does not know about its ignorance and never improves itself.
There is drama in the world and also drama in the temple. People are either running away from something or running towards something.
We are responsible for our karma. Rituals is the foolishness of trying to delegate it and outsource it. There is a man in Kumbha printing pictures of people and dipping them in gangs to suggest snan. Cf A Brahmin who killed a cow and said it was the hand of Indra.
The basic human problem is fear of survival and loneliness since the caveman. He also wanted security and wanted to have companions and few people around him(tribe). But having food for today was fine. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Today also the basic problem is the same. But all the technologies have complicated our miseries. We need one one-bedroom apartment to 5 bedroom apartment. We think about financial security after 30 years. We have 5000 friends on social media but no one is available. Loneliness is an epidemic. The ethical dilemma is rising with AI and genetic editing. It's okay if we erased cardiovascular disease but what if the market demanded the complexity and color of the eyes of their kids or if we create the dinosaurs and mammoths?
When I focus on the subject it's wisdom. When I focus on the object, it's love.- Nisargadutta Maharaj (I am that). He was restless in his talk. Just wanted them to experience it with urgency.
Nagarjuna taught the middle way beyond the duality and polarization, assertion, and rejection. The mind searches for certitude and that is not freedom. Certitude is an intellectual fallasy.
We oscillate between freedom and guilt for what we did. Shame is good, but dwelling in it for years without doing anything to rectify it is guilt. Guilt is a complete waste of time.
God talked in silence. The rest is the poor translation
Avalokiteswora wept at the sight of the suffering of the sentinel beings and Tara was born out of the tears when it dropped to the ground.
Spiritual pride is the hardest ego.
Time is the only non-renewable energy.
Have joyful enthusiasm for spirituality. There is already a lot of misery in the world, places where you can be measurable. Please don't bring it to the practice of spirituality.
“What was the point of religion if it was joyless and tiring?”
